Terms of Service

v2.0 · Peanut GalleryLast updated · June 3, 2026

United States only for the hosted demo. The Demo allowance backed by our hosted keys is offered only to users in the United States. Peanut Gallery is free — there is no paid tier. The Extension itself is globally available under the MIT license. If you’re outside the U.S., use My-Keys Mode or self-host — see the self-host guide.

If you only read three sections, read Acceptable Use, AI Output and Persona Framing, and Limitation of Liability. Those sections change what you can use the Service for and what you can recover from us if something goes wrong.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Peanut Gallery Chrome extension, the hosted backend at api.peanutgallery.live, the marketing site at www.peanutgallery.live (together, the “Service”). They read alongside our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. The Service is provided by Manu Games LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company (“we”, “us”, “Manu Games”).

How you can use the Service today

No paid tier

Peanut Gallery is free. There is no paid hosted subscription, no payment processing, and no billing or checkout code in the product. Earlier versions of the repository contained scaffolding for a planned “Peanut Gallery Plus” tier; that has been removed, and no paid tier is offered or planned. If that ever changes, subscription-specific terms would be published here in advance. Do not rely on any leftover reference to a subscription as an offer to sell.

Acceptance and eligibility

You accept these Terms by installing or running the Extension or by calling our hosted backend. You must be at least 13 to use the Extension. You must not be on any U.S., U.K., E.U., or U.N. sanctions list, and you must not use the Service in a sanctioned jurisdiction. See the Export and sanctions section below.

Acceptable use — recording-consent laws are your responsibility

The Extension can capture audio from any browser tab you authorize. Several U.S. states — including California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Washington — require all-party consent to record private conversations. Many jurisdictions outside the U.S. (the EU, UK, Canada, and others) impose equivalent or stricter rules. You are solely responsible for obtaining any consent required before directing the Extension at audio (live calls, conferences, voicemail, ambient room audio, private streams).

You further agree not to use the Service to:

AI output and persona framing

All persona output is AI-generated text and may be inaccurate, misleading, fabricated, biased, offensive, or wrong. The Service uses third-party large-language-model providers (Anthropic, xAI) and xAI’s Grok Live Search for fact-check grounding, and may misattribute statements, produce confident-sounding “fact-checks” that are not factual, repeat errors in the transcript or search results, or fail in ways unique to streaming AI. You are responsible for verifying persona output before relying on it for any purpose, and for any consequences of redistributing it. Label redistributed output as AI-generated commentary, not as a quote from any real person.

Personas are text-only generic archetypes, not voice clones or image likenesses. The Service generates short written reactions in the styled voice of a persona archetype. It does not synthesize audio in the likeness of any real person’s voice, generate images of any real person, sample a real person’s recorded voice, use any real person’s photograph or likeness, reproduce verbatim transcripts or other substantial copyrighted material from any show, or hold itself out as an authorized or endorsed work of any individual. The persona prompts carry a standing instruction that the model identify itself as an AI fan parody if directly asked whether it is a specific real person. This framing is load-bearing for the parody / satire / First Amendment posture.

If you are a public figure (or representative of one) whose name appears in a persona and you want it removed, email [email protected]. We respond promptly and in good faith.

What the Service is not

Intellectual property

The Extension’s source code is licensed under the MIT License. The Peanut Gallery name and mascot artwork are trademarks of Manu Games LLC and are not granted under the MIT license. The persona system prompts, the fact-check-layer methodology, and related documentation are copyrighted original works of Manu Games LLC, published in the repository under the same MIT license as the code unless marked otherwise.

The persona packs are an unofficial homage to and parody of talk- and podcast-style formats — including the Howard Stern Show and This Week in Startups. The personas shipped in the product are generic archetypes (a fact-checker, a host, a sound-effects sideman, a comedy writer, and the like); they are not licensed from, authorized by, or endorsed by any show or person, are not built to impersonate any specific individual, and ship no verbatim transcripts or other substantial copyrighted material from any show. We make no claim of ownership over any real individual’s name, voice, likeness, or personality. See the AI output and persona framing section above for the parody posture.

Feedback you submit (in-Extension upvotes, downvotes, pins, quote-cards; bug reports; support emails; pull requests) is licensed to us non-exclusively, worldwide, royalty-free, to incorporate into the Service. You retain ownership of your feedback.

Provider usage policies

When you use the Service, network calls are made to the following third-party providers, each governed by that provider’s own terms and acceptable-use policy. You agree to be bound by those policies when your use of the Service causes a call to that provider, regardless of whether you are in My-Keys Mode or Demo mode. In My-Keys Mode you are the direct customer of each provider; in Demo mode Manu Games’ keys are used within the 15-minute one-off trial ceiling.

Fact-check grounding is handled through xAI Grok Live Search, governed by the xAI Enterprise Terms and AUP linked above; no separate search provider is used.

We may change providers, add providers, or remove providers with updated disclosure on this page and in the Privacy Policy.

AI training on your content

We do not train AI models on your audio, transcripts, or content, and we have configured each provider to minimize retention and prohibit training on our usage to the extent each provider offers that control:

These configurations protect content flowing through the Service. They do not control what you do with persona output after it leaves the Service.

Export and sanctions

The open-source Extension is published under the MIT License as publicly-available information under 15 C.F.R. § 734.7. You may not download, use, export, re-export, or transfer the Service or any hosted tier to, or for the benefit of, (a) any person or entity identified on the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Specially Designated Nationals List or any other U.S. denied-parties list; (b) the governments of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Belarus, or Syria; or (c) the Crimea region of Ukraine or the so-called DNR/LNR separatist areas of Ukraine, except as authorized by U.S. law or an OFAC license. You represent that you are not located in, under the control of, or a national or resident of any such country or on any such list. Any future paid hosted tier will be offered to U.S. residents only; access from outside the United States is not authorized.

DMCA safe harbor

Manu Games LLC respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe that content made available through the Service infringes a copyright you own or control, please send a notice containing the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to our designated agent:

A valid notice must include: (1) a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorized agent; (2) identification of the copyrighted work claimed infringed; (3) identification of the material claimed infringing with enough detail for us to locate it; (4) your contact information; (5) a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (6) a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act. Knowingly materially misrepresenting that material is infringing may subject you to liability under § 512(f). We will forward valid notices and respond promptly. If your content is removed and you believe it was in error, you may submit a counter-notice containing the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3) to the same address.

Warranty disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that persona output will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR DATA. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (b) $100 USD. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations; where that’s true, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from third-party claims arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms (especially the Acceptable Use section), your violation of any law or third-party right (including intellectual property, privacy, publicity, and recording-consent rights), any audio or content you direct the Extension to process, or your redistribution of persona output.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, U.S.A., without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts sitting in Macon County, North Carolina, and you and we consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts. Before filing any action, you and we agree to attempt informal resolution for 60 days by emailing [email protected]. Small-claims court is preserved. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and we waive any right to trial by jury.

Changes to these Terms

Changes are effective on the updated “Last updated” date. If we ever introduce a material new data flow (for example, a paid tier — not currently offered or planned), we will describe it here before it takes effect.
