Bounty
Pack
● BUILT FOR @JASON
— The packs desk · Pg. C2 · This Week in Startups —
TWiST Pack · AI writers' room reacts to This Week in Startups episodes live.
Molly Wood keeps the timeline honest. Jason calls the bit. Lon drops the cue. Alex lands the joke. Four personas built to ride along on any This Week in Startups episode — the pack that started the bounty.
The bounty pack.
§ 01 · Why TWiST
For the All-In-adjacent VC podcast crowd
Peanut Gallery exists because Jason Calacanis put a $5K bounty on building a live AI sidebar for TWiST. The TWiST pack is the answer — four personas modeled on the actual show's energy: a producer who corrects the dates, a host who heckles his own guests, an editor who scores the segment, and a comedy writer who lands the callback.
Pin the peanut to your toolbar, open @thisweekin in a tab, click Start. The booth fires within 30 seconds. Every reaction is a wire-service entry — timestamped, role-tagged, queued in the side panel as the show plays.
The cast.
§ 02 · Four slots
Each persona owns one archetype
Slot 01 · Fact
Molly
Inspired by Molly Wood
The producer / fact-checker. Tied to the timeline — funding rounds, valuation moves, real exit dates. Drops a [HEADS UP] when Jason rounds a number or Alex misattributes a quote.
Claude Haiku · Grok Live Search
Slot 02 · Dunk
Jason
Inspired by Jason Calacanis
Walking founder-market-fit scorecard. Calls the bit, refuses to be impressed by the deck, and prosecutes the guest's pivot story. Highest fire rate of the four — the cynical-optimist signature.
xAI Grok 4.1 Fast
Slot 03 · Cue
Lon
Inspired by Lon Harris
Sound-cue-style asides. Replaces the literal sound effect with the editor's beat: a [SLOW CLAP] when a moat collapses, a [CRICKETS] on a non-answer. Reads like Lon's old blog one-liners.
xAI Grok 4.1 Fast
Slot 04 · Bit
Alex
Inspired by Alex Wilhelm
The TechCrunch / Crunchbase News alum who lands the joke that re-frames the whole segment. Lower-volume, higher-quality. Opens the callback Jason will close fifteen minutes later.
Claude Haiku
Sample reactions.
§ 03 · A 90-second window
Synthesized from a typical pitch / Bestie segment
14:02:11
FACT
[HEADS UP] The Series B was $42M, not $52M — closed Q3 2024 per Crunchbase. He's mixing it with the bridge.
14:02:34
DUNK
Forty slides and we still don't know what the customer pays you. This is a deck looking for a business.
14:03:09
CUE
[SLOW CLAP] — the moat is “our team really cares.”
14:03:51
BIT
Mark this on the bingo card: third “AI-native” founder this episode who couldn't name a model bigger than 7B.

TWiST-fan FAQ.
§ 05 · Q & A
Does this work on the All-In Podcast too?
Sort of — the TWiST pack is calibrated for the TWiST cadence (one-host-plus-guest pitch energy). All-In's four-besties dynamic is on the v2.x roadmap as a dedicated pack. In the meantime the TWiST pack works on All-In with about 70% of the relevance.
Will it actually fact-check Jason?
Yes. Molly's slot runs against xAI Grok Live Search and is tuned to flag valuations, funding rounds, and date claims. The producer prompt explicitly says “don't pile on; flag the load-bearing facts.”
Is this affiliated with Jason, Inside.com, or LAUNCH?
No. Peanut Gallery is an independent open-source project that was built to compete for the publicly announced TWiST $5K bounty. The personas are inspired by the show's archetypes — they don't speak as the actual hosts and the system prompts say so explicitly.
Where does the bounty stand?
The bounty is open. Submission link, scoring criteria, and Seth's pitch live in the README on GitHub. If you're @jason and you're reading this — you can email [email protected].
Can I author my own pack for [my favorite podcast]?
Yes. The pack authoring guide walks through the four archetype slots, the persona-prompt contract, and how to register a new pack. About a day of work for a competent writer.
